This debate is so clear we shouldn't havve to confuse ourselves. You may I'd yourself as a Tsonga. But the main points doesn't only lie there the point is these surnames relate with other people that I'd themselves as Nguni, Zulu, Swazi etc meaning initially u all came from one ancestor but remained in different areras during the Great Lake migrations thousands of years ago, to the Southern regions. Whereby some remained in the area knoen today as Mozambique and etc other places, while some continued further down south to different areas such as present day Swaziland, Natal, Eastern Capeetc etc. Similarly the Venda remained in what is known as Zimbabwe and Limpopo today while their other Sotho members moved further down. There is a simiarity between Shona, Venda and Sotho. Same as there is with Thonga, (Nguni) Zulu, Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebel, Shangani as these people were one Nguni group hencer surnames relations in most cases. Anyway Malandela the father of Qwabe and Zulu was mentioned as Thonga.

Jiwawa maluleka just give me a proof that what u saying is accurate. If u asked me I would just refer u to surname representation: say there was no other maluleka in other areas or cultures and only in Tsonga culture then I would safely conclude u are right the surname is exclusively Tsonga. But the current evidence precludes me from saying such. This debate can go on and on but what remains are hard first-hand facts we see in our communities thru surname identification. So if one had to find Ngobeni in Malawi I would be compelled to understand that there must be a link inbetween otherwise the surname would exclusively found in my culture!! Stop this confusion and build the nation!! Gaza!!

Jiwawa! Chief then explain why one can alos find this surname in other cultures, are they still part of the Tsonga community? My understanding is that some of the stuff u write here u read from a white author same as Jiwawa. I recognize myself as a Shangaan man and not only Tsonga. U have Maluleke and then Maluleka: now the question is why are they the same and many Tsonga people name themselves Nguni names? Did the Ngoni also influence their language, provided they were outside the Ngoni territory and refused to be part of it? I generally think there is no difference between the two. Only a fool can!

Nghunghunyani was not a Tsonga , but he was Ngoni or Nguni . His ancestors left Zululand to Mozambique and abandoned their Nguni language and became Tsonga speaking. Vuhosi a byi peli nambu (Kingship does not cross a river). Historically, Tsonga communities stretched from St Lucia Bay in Northern KwaZulu Natal up to the upper Save river in Mozambique, covering parts of Swaziland, Mpumalanga, Kruger National Park and South Eastern Zimbabwe. In the 1720s , Portuguese and Dutch identified the Tsonga as linguistically and culturally belonging to one group despite the fact that they belonged to different chiefdoms. Sandile For YOUR INFORMATION .The Maluleke (or Van’wanati) had long established themselves around the northern part of the present day Kruger National Park and around the convergence of South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. In other words, although they were raided by the Gaza and the Ndebele, these groups refused to be subjugated. For over a period of about 150 years to this date, these groups lived outside the Gaza Kingdom, they re-established themselves as independent societies. The Van’wanati or the Van’wanati people did not belonged to the Gaza. The Van’wanati inhabited the land they currently occupy in about 1640 (more than a century and half before the rise of Soshangane) when they migrated with the Valoyi from Mashonaland (now Zimbabwe). Since then, they have been ruled by Malenga, Maxakadzi, Guyu, Dlamani (who massacred the infamous Van Rensberg party in 1836), Nkuri, Mhinga, Sundhuza I, Nkhavi, Maxawu, Sundhuza II, Xilungwa and others whose descendents are currently based in South Africa and Mozambique. Although they were occasionally raided by the Gaza and the Ndebele of Mzilikazi, they were never subjugated but remained culturally, linguistically and politically independent from both the two groups
