Sonkabiyajoqo! Abath' bedl' umntu babemyenga ngendaba!Hlokozane elizalel' izinkonjane namajuba!#The person who wrote herebelow I believe is my kin because at the end he mentions that they are "Vahlenge" which means the Hlenga Ngunis tribe along the Eastern Coasts of Kwazulu Natal, neighbours to the Tonga Ngunis. That is what we have grown up our grandparents and parents telling us and we will also tell it to our children that we, the Mabasa's are not the Mabaso's. Mabaso's are Khumalo's, the Ntungwa Nguni's, whereas we, the Mabasa's are the Hlenga Nguni's also called AmaNhlenga, or Lengwe Nguni's or AmaLala. I hope this clarifies to the person who also asked a difference between Mabaso's and the Mabasa's. Zulu!"Madzanga, xipha wa xikovele. I Xinyori xa humba xo kangetela ribyeni.Xa kangetela ribyeni. Xikoveleeeeeeee!! Xigombeeeeeeeeee.Hi Vadyi va Humba(Snail). Vahlenge. sorry, can the author explain the difference between the other Nguni Mabasa or Mabaso. to me is just the same. well i dont know. maybe it happened as a result of tribes migration and the Mabasos were now known as the Mabasa. am asking this simply because you cannot have any Mabasa outside the Nguni and Shangaan people!! hence i asked! It is interesting that the Mabasa are the decendents of the Ntuli's. Ngiyanitsandza batukulu baka Ntuli. Ngiyanithanda sizukulwane sakwa Ntuli. young people must learn these relations among the Nguni's, it just brings us closer. Ntuli, Shabangu, Zulu........stop the inter marriage among these. Newyear ka Ntuli, a very proud Nguni.TO 'A VERY PROUD Nguni': you are right my brother thats the reason why you cant find anf MABASA/MABASO outside the Shangaan/Zulu/NGUNI cluster. thats because it comes from the same place. as for the 'Vahlengwe' name it still relates to where these MABASO/MABASA people migtrated and integrted/intermarried with the people of that place. same with MANGANYI being BakaMagudu thats the place they arrived at or were relative to at that time.as for the guy who said there is a difference between MABASA and MABASO; my friend, there is not its the same thing they just lived in different areas, even now all the SHANGAAN people live in different areas in Giyane, Tzaneen (LIMPOPO), BUSHbuchridge, Mkhuhlu (Mpumalamga) but are originally from one place. those in Mpumalanga are from the other section of the Nxumalo leadership of MAWEWE and those in Limpopo GIYANE are Mzila's (these are NGHUNGHUNYANE'S twin sons who quarelled during the civil wars in Mozambique GAZA Kingdom as Mawewe/Mzila?? sided? with the Portuguese powers to fight his brother. they were later dispersed by the Portuguese and fled back to SA some remained in Mozambique.ok i found something interesting concerning the Mabasa/so's clan..like the first isithakazelo above it menttions 'Abath bedl umuntu bebemyenga ngendaba'; also this part is found in the MABASO/MNTUNGWA (KHUMALO) praise. the AMABASO are originally Southern AmaKhumalo's while theor other cousins in the Northern part (i think around Maritzburg?) were known simoply as KHUMALO under king Matshobane and later on Mzilikazi who later defected against UShaka Zulu who then sent the Ufasimba regiment that got defeated by Mzilikazi owing to their hilltop dwellings whereby they rolled the stones down over the Zulu regiment. Mzilikazi fled with allegedly about 500-600 people (you will note he managed to gather his people in time before Shaka would arrive, hence the reason they still speak Nguni/Zulu/Ndebele in Zim and South Africa because they left with their wives. unlike the AmaShangana who fled straight away from the battlefield INTO `wakahina.co.za`.the night only the Nxumalo's managed to somehow got back and got some family members and headed for the North, Swaziland conquering the AmaSwazi and integrated them INTO `wakahina.co.za`.their Ndwandwe section (later known as AmaShangane, Tsonga/actually originally its Thonga due to intermarriage with the Mozambican AmThonga/AmaTsonga))..so its a whole lot of historical mixes hence most are confused. as to why people, the Shangaan Mabasa no longer know these things it's due to the loss of the Nguni language and the culture when they were sucked INTO `wakahina.co.za`.new communities..and also for security reasons they had to adjust the surnames and praise or praise according to the new experiences they encountered after the migrations. wow, beatiful i must say when people still remember or search for who and what they are. i just wanna say this people in particular to the Mabasa/Mabaso surname. well, with the Mfecane there was a lot of moving around from Zululand to neighbouring tribes and countries such as Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania where these surnames got influenced by the new culture and languages. originally the Mabasa/so's are the KHUMALO'S. Southern AbaNtungwa from a place known today as Zululand. these are another large section of the Nguni/Zulu brothers/sisters who got dispersed amongst different tribes of Africa due to endless wars of the 19th century. some fled with Mzilikazi to Zimbabwe some with Soshangane to Mozambique and later on back to South Africa (in two provinces Limpopo and Mpumalanga) some remained in Mozambique etc. some ended up in Swaziland but arent originally AmaNgwane/EmaSwati, but just got integrated INTO `wakahina.co.za`.the clan. MABASA and MABASO ARE THE SAME SURNAMES, even though they may be praised differently. thats due to different directions these people took.those who think there is a difference i think its the same thing..the surname is written the same except the last vowel 'a' and 'o'. it shows these people are from the same person. but people believe what they are told by their parents but i think sometimes even parents fail to really explain in full as to what happened for this to have been praiesed in a different way. there are some Shangaan sections of people who write their surnames as MABASO but when they gather for the cultural ceremonies also the MABASA are present and they are one unit. the thing is when cultures disintegrate from the original source they tend to have new influences within other cultures same with Shangaan people who most were actually from the NDWANDWE clan of KING ZWIDE. so the above writers may or may not be correct. ask yourself why so many Shangaan surnames resemble that of the Nguni (i wont say specifically ZULU coz all the clans in Natal were integrated INTO `wakahina.co.za`.the then smaller ZULU clan but not originally Zulu's. but then again all the NGUNI people are from one parent NGU. just brothers and sisters who expanded outside one family.)AGAIN I WOULD LIKE TO MAINTAIN MY POSITION THAT MABASA AND MABASO ARE NOT THE SAME WHILE MABASA WHEREVER YOU FIND THEM ARE A ONE NATION, THE LENGWE'S. RECENTLY I FOLLOWED UPON PEOPLE OF THE SURNAME HLANGUZA. HLANGUZA IS NOT MANY IN HISTORY. HLANGUZA IS ACTUALLY THE CONNECTION OF ALL THE MABASA'S. AS YOU CAN FIND IT HERE TOO, THESE PEOPLE HAVE A MENTION OF MAGODA, MZILA, ETC. THE MABASA'S, AND THE HLANGUZA'S ARE THE HLENGA NGUNI'S (THE LENGWE). THE MABASO'S ARE NOT THE HLENGA NGUNI'S. THAT IS WHERE A DIVISION HAPPENS. THEY ARE THE NTUNGWA NGUNI'S. THE PHRASE: ABATHI BEDLA UMUNTU BABEMYENGA NGENDABA IS A GENERAL NGUNI PHRASE AND MUST NOT CAUSE CONFUSION. WHEN IT COMES TO NGUNI THEN SEPARATES THE LENGWA'S FROM THE NTUNGWA'S. MABASO IS A NTUNGWA, A NDABEZITHA, AND AN ELDER BROTHER TO KHUMALO, DERIVED FROM THE SAME NTUNGWA NGUNI'S AS THE ZULU SURNAME. MABASA IS A LENGWE. HENCE WE DO MARRY THE KHUMALO'S WITH CLEAN HEARTS. TO MAKE THINGS SIMPLE - EVERY CLAN HAS A SOLEMN PRAYER SONG, IF THEY HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN THEIR ROOTS. THE MABASA'S WHO MIGRATED TO THE NORTHERN KWAZULU-NATAL FOUND THEMSELVES IN THE BAQULUSI REGION. THEY WERE ACTUALLY THE BAQULUSI UNDER INKOSI SIKHOBOBO KA SIBIYA!!! THEIR HYMN IS "AMANDLA KABABA". WHAT IS YOUR HYMN GUYS, THE ONE USED WHEN YOU ARE GOING OUT TO WAR, WHEN YOU ARE BURRYING YOUR DEAD, WHEN YOU ARE MARRYING YOUR CHILDREN. IT IS A FIRST HYMN, ACTUALLY IT IS THE ANTHEM OF YOUR CLAN. LET US HEAR YOUR ANTHEM, MAYBE WILL FIND EACH OTHER BETTER.
